UK forwarders forge Chinese links

[ August 9, 2011   //   ]

Bradford-based forwarder Advanced Supply Chain has signed a partnership with China’s leading logistics and freight operator, Sinotrans. ASC, which operates from sites at Bradford and Halifax for major retailers including Matalan, Asda, Makro and DFS, , will offer end-to-end logistics for the movement of goods to and from Asia. The UK company said the move would help it increase its turnover by around 20 per cent to £25m by the end of this year and would create around 40 jobs.

ASC offers a full range of air and ocean freight forwarding services, along with customs and duty management and worldwide contract logistics.

Another UK forwarder has also signed a Chinese deal. Telford-based Global Freight along with Spears of Shrewsbury, have joined forces to import ‘spear’-type valves for beer kegs from the Far East before being distributed to customers in the UK and overseas.
Spears makes its valves to its own patented design in the Far East while Global Freight will arrange shipments, and customs clearance as well as transporting them to the customer from its Telford warehouse if needed.”
