UK port calls a mystery for THE Alliance

[ November 8, 2016   //   ]

Members of THE Alliance – Hapag-Lloyd, K Line, Mitsui OSK, NYK and Yang Ming – have outlined their plans for their 240-strong fleet when the new grouping goes into operation in April 2017.

However, while all the new groupings five Asia/Europe services and five of the six transatlantic routes will call in the UK, the actual port is not yet specified. While some specific ports in Europe and Asia are named, such as Hamburg or Kaohsiung, the planes also state ‘south-east Asia hub’ or ‘west Med hub’ in other locations.

Plans revealed by the OCEAN alliance a few days earlier named Felixstowe or Southampton as the calling-point for its services.
