Union calls for removal of DP World support

[ March 18, 2022   //   ]

The RMT union is calling on the government to remove any government support for P&O parent company DP World, including future contracts, including Freeports following the dismissal of 800 seafarers. It is also calling for a widespread public and commercial boycott of P&O until the jobs are reinstated.

DP World operates the major container ports of Southampton and London Gateway.

RMT’s call was as part of a four-point plan to protect jobs and employment standards. It is also calling for new Legislation to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said the government knew the day before of P&O’s actions.
