UPS applies for drone delivery license

[ July 26, 2019   //   ]

UPS has applied to the US Federal Aviation Administration for a license to operate commercial drone flights under its UPS Flight Forward subsidiary. It could receive certification as early as this year, which would give UPS one of the first fully certified revenue-generating drone operations in the country. It would allow flights beyond the operator’s line of sight during day or night, which are currently highly restricted in and approved only by exception. UPS is operating drone healthcare deliveries under a specific use-case to a hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina.
