US trade still in the Dark Ages, says Freightos

US importers and exporters logistics practices can be “laughably archaic” according to logistics technology provider Freightos, following publication of an industry survey of 500 firms.

Around half of all small businesses still rely on spreadsheets to manage shipments, claimed Freightos.

Moreover, around 30% of small firms said that less than half of their shipments arrive on time. Some 42% of business owners also spent more than two hours managing each shipment, said Freightos, while 18.4% of business owners said they had no visibility of their shipments.

Freightos chief executive and founder Dr Zvi Schreiber said: “These survey results put real data to the all-too frustrating obsolescence of the technology used to manage international shipments, and provide valuable insight into the motives behind the rapid growth in logistics technology investments.”
