A2B adds Thamesport sailing as Viasea relaunches

[ February 28, 2025   //   ]

Dutch transport company A2B-online Container has added a fifth weekly sailing on its service between London Thamesport and Moerdijk in The Netherlands. The multimodal operator now offers a near-daily frequency with arrivals at the Kent port each week on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Earlier this year, A2B-online also added a new barge service between Moerdijk and Duisburg, and A2B-online Express, a rail service between Moerdijk and Melzo in Italy.

Norwegian short sea container operator Viasea Shipping has meanwhile relaunched its service between London Thamesport, Northern Europe and the Baltic. It calls in Rotterdam and the Norwegian ports of Oslo, Moss and Kristiansand, with onward connections into the Baltic and Poland.

The new service will call at Thamesport every Saturday and is in response to growing demand for cargo shipments from the south of the UK to Northern Europe and the Baltics.

London Thamesport director Mark Taylor, said: “We are aware that Viasea had a number of options for this service and are delighted that they have chosen to locate it at London Thamesport. The decision is a vindication of the hard work and effort of the whole team at the port which enable us to offer the highest level of service to customers and port-users.

“This service extends the range of destinations served from London Thamesport and reinforces London Thamesport’s position as a key hub for short sea container traffic. We look forward to working with Viasea to continue to increase the range, frequency and reliability of options for shippers.”

Viasea UK sales manager, Amber Bensley, said: “We are pleased to announce that Viasea are calling London Thamesport as part of our Baltic & Norway liner services. Their reliability, professionalism and commitment to quality goes in line with supporting our operation and we look forward to continuing our successful partnership once more.”
