Virgin flying high to the States

[ June 5, 2017   //   ]

Virgin Atlantic cargo launched daily flights from Manchester to New York JFK at the end of May, in its existing five daily services to JFK from London Heathrow and its daily Heathrow-Newark service.

The launch of New York services from the north of England follows the introduction of three flights a week between Manchester and San Francisco as well as twice-weekly Manchester-Boston services at the end of March.

In March and April, the airline saw its business from London Heathrow to New York increase by 20% and 21% respectively, while tonnage from the US to the UK in March rose 3%, contributing towards Virgin Atlantic Cargo’s best overall month for three years.

Managing director of Virgin Atlantic Cargo, John Lloyd, said: “Most of our US routes from the UK performed above our expectations in the first four months of this year, with particularly strong demand to New York. We are already seeing positive customer support for our new San Francisco and Boston flights from and to Manchester and we are confident this will continue with the addition of New York.”
