Wincanton ruling dismays GXO
[ February 19, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]US-owned GXO Logistics says it is disappointed at a ruling by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority ruling that its planned acquisition of Wincanton is likely to reduce competition in dedicated warehousing in the grocery sector. It said that the Authority had found no competition concerns with the vast majority of the Wincanton business and its focus was limited to a very small group of large and sophisticated companies, which will represent less than 10% of Wincanton revenue. GXO said it would present its response to the CMA at a hearing in March and continue to work towards full clearance of the transaction by the end of April.
In March 2024, Wincanton rejected a rival offer by CMA CGM’s Ceva Logistics arm in favour of the GXO bid.
