APMT signs deals in Nigeria and Bangladesh

[ December 19, 2025   //   ]

APM Terminals and Barging Marine Solutions Ltd have signed an exclusive lease agreement until September 2031 to expand services in and around Apapa, Nigeria to increase capacity and to provide enhanced landside and barge connections.

The facilities include two waterfront and inland container terminals as well as barge services that will offer an alternative to road transportation.

Under the agreement, Barging Marine Solutions — part of GMT Nigeria  — will operate the services for APM Terminals and the companies will jointly develop solutions to add value for customers.

APMT has meanwhile signed a concession agreement with Chittagong Port Authority for a US550 million development of the Laldia Container Terminal in Chattogram, Bangladesh, one of the largest Public Private Partnership investments in the country’s history. The concession agreement will allow APM Terminals to operate the terminal for a period of 30 years, which can be extended based on key performance indicators. The Laldia Container Terminal will be fully designed, financed, built and operated by the investors – a first-of-its-kind model for Bangladesh’s port infrastructure. It will expand  capacity by over 800,000 TEUs and will, over time, allow vessels of up to 6,000TEU, compared to the current limit of 2,800 TEU.
