Türkiye-Syria TIR restarts

TIR movements from Türkiye to GCC markets via Syria officially restarted in mid-November after years of interruption. Operations via Syria are critical for onward movements towards neighbouring markets and the wider Middle East.

Managed by IRU under a United Nations mandate, allows shipment goods via unlimited countries with trucks sealed at the point of origin and only reopened at their destination.

Ahmet Sarı, the owner of Sarıtaş Lojistik, said, “After opening the Iraq corridor with the TIR system, the reopening of the Syria corridor under TIR is another major step for regional road transport. TIR provides the security and predictability needed for operations along sensitive routes.”

Seytaş owner, Mehmet Ramiz Kılınç, said, “The resumption of TIR transit through Syria has restored another vital land link between Türkiye and GCC countries.”
