Border Force action may impact freight movements

[ December 16, 2022   //   ]

BIFA says that industrial action by Border Force could affect freight movements at a number of locations on 23-26 December and 28-31 December. They are: Birmingham Airport, Cardiff Airport, Gatwick Airport, Glasgow Airport, Heathrow, Manchester Airport and port of Newhaven.

The action could lead to disruption at ports, airports, and Inland Border Facilities (IBF) and anyone able to move goods outside of this period should consider doing so.

To check IBF site availability visit: Inland Border Facility – Site Availability – GOV.UK (hmrc.gov.uk)

If you are planning to move goods through the Port of Newhaven

Please contact your operator to understand how this may affect your movement.

BIFA adds that goods moving via the Port of Dover, and/or the Sevington Inland Border Facility may experience traffic delays in the area due to higher volumes of passenger traffic at this time of year.
