[ September 15, 2023   //   ]

The Department for Transport announced £8 million in funding on 11 September to improve 39 roadside facilities in England with a further £11 million from industry to upgrade truck stops. Beneficiaries include the Stop 24 Folkestone Services, Immingham Lorry Park and Motis’ Cheriton Parc and Freight Clearance Centre. The improvements will be used for facilities like showers, rest areas and restaurants, and increase heavy goods vehicle (HGV) parking capacity while improving security. The funding comes from the government’s HGV parking and driver welfare grant scheme and forms part of the up to £100 million joint investment between government and industry to support the logistics sector.
