DPD unveils plan for growth

Parcels firm DPD is investing £175m in new capacity to meet growing demand from online retailers Its plans include a new, purpose-built £100m parcel sorting hub – most likely around Leicester or Rugby = that will be one of the largest of its kind in Europe. It will also be refurbishing two of its other hubs to increase the number of parcels it can handle. The investment follows a period of unprecedented growth spearheaded by the company’s Predict service which was launched in March 2010 and has generated over £70m of new business to date. DPD CEO Dwain McDonald, said that consumers are now prepared to buy a much wider range of goods online.
