Hydrogen truck proves its worth

[ March 11, 2022   //   ]

Austrian forwarder Gebrüder Weiss says its first hydrogen fuel cell truck has proved itself in all seasons and has saved around 80 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Even on uphill stretches, the 36-tonne Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell stationed in Altenrhein retained full performance.

Gebrüder Weiss plans to use hydrogen trucks in Austria and southern Germany as well in the future, since subsidy programs in Germany make their use north of the Alps attractive although a limiting factor is the availability of hydrogen filling stations, of which nine already exist in Switzerland.
