Labour joins call for customs union

A Labour government would negotiate permanent membership of a customs union with the European Union, said its leader Jeremy Corbyn in a speech on 26 February. The BBC’s political correspondent Ben Wright says that it raises the possibility of the Labour party passing an amendment calling for the creation of a union, which would cause “huge problems” for Theresa May’s minority Conservative government and could force it to change its position.
