Oakland thinks electric

[ April 18, 2026   //   ]

Retail distribution specialist Oakland International has made its first investment in heavy goods vehicle chargers as part of its ambition to operate routes powered exclusively by electric vehicles. It builds on the partnership with Hived whose fleet of EHGV Mercedes E-Actros tractor units are stationed at its Redditch site.

It also builds on the company’s investment in operating a 100% electric refrigerated trailer fleet, using Eco‑Drive technology that converts engine power into electricity for temperature‑controlled units.

The company’s Mercedes‑Benz eActros 600 and 400 truck models operate on fixed routes, where electric vehicles deliver the strongest performance and lowest running emissions.

Oakland operates across the UK and Ireland with a fleet of 44‑tonne articulated vehicles, rigids and multi‑temperature vans.
