Samskip launches Morocco-UK service

[ November 17, 2025   //   ]

Samskip has launched a new container service between Morocco and the UK and the Netherlands. It will sail weekly from Agadir and Casablanca to Tilbury and Rotterdam. Connections are available in Rotterdam on Samskip’s multimodal network, including Ireland, the Nordics and Central Europe.

To support the new route, Samskip has invested in a new fleet of GPS-equipped reefers, including 750 40ft units and 250 45ft high cube pallet-wide containers. Equipped with Controlled Atmosphere technology, these containers regulate oxygen, CO₂, humidity, and temperature to keep fruit and vegetables fresh for up to forty-five days.

Agadir is expected to handle mainly refrigerated and frozen produce, while Casablanca will export a broader spectrum of products including automotive parts, chemicals, packaging and construction materials.

Samskip adds that, by shifting from road to sea, Moroccan exporters can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 80%  while benefiting from a faster, more predictable service.

The new service will call at Tilbury’s London Container Terminal. Ross McKissock, director of unitised at Tilbury owner Forth Ports, said: “The arrival of Samskip’s Moroccan service consolidates our prime position in the reefer market for time critical produce for the country’s largest consumer market. Our facilities at LCT on the Thames provides a fast, low carbon, reliable and cost-effective alternative to trucking from Europe, showcasing the major benefits of our specialist deep-sea offering.”
