Full truckload carrier Globaltruck has operated the first services between Russia and China following the latter country’s ratification of the TIR convention. The TIR system is now operational in Pakistan, the IRU reports. It adds that, with Iran and Turkey having successfully completed digital TIR pilot operations and Pakistan’s capabilities to use digital TIR tools, the Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad corridor has strong potential to benefit from fully digital operations.

Russia has opened three more border crossings to goods transported under TIR carnet, the IRU reports – Brusnichnoe (Finland), Nekhoteevka and Troebortnoye (Ukraine). It brings the total number of Russian border points cleared for TIR to 48.
