US forgets 1776 and all that as Coronation exports surge

[ May 16, 2023   //   ]

The US was by far the busiest destination for Coronation souvenirs other than the UK, says broker ParcelHero. It accounted for 60% of all the Coronation-themed products shipped in April, far outstripping the 20% sent to Australia, the next busiest destination.

It appears that the events of 1776 and the Boston Tea Part have all been forgiven, says head of consumer research, David Jinks, who commented: “It’s astonishing to see just how many Coronation-themed items were sent across the Pond ready for the big day. These ranged from pictures and tea towels to souvenir books and T-shirts.

‘Among the Coronation souvenirs ParcelHero delivered were musical tins to Seabeck, Washington State; bunting to Ashland, Ohio; mugs and coins to Kansas City and teddy bears to Prescott, Arizona.

He attributes the size of the market to a shared language and the freedom from duties for UK goods valued at under $800.
