Haulier info sites go live across the country

[ November 18, 2020   //   ]

The Department for Transport has opened 45 information and advice sites across the UK to help hauliers prepare for the end of Brexit transition.

The COVID-secure sites, which are located at key motorway service stations and truck stops, offer hauliers one-to-one training on the new ‘Check an HGV’ service and upcoming changes to border processes that come into effect at the end of the transition period. The training is available in up to 13 languages.

This roll-out follows opening of five pilot sites earlier in November which, in two weeks, helped almost 7,000 hauliers.

Hauliers visiting any one sites will be met by one of 1,000 staff members to answer questions and walk them through the documents they will need to keep travelling to, from and through Europe. DfT has also published the on the GOV.UK website. The handbook, which will also be translated into 13 different languages, provides key information and advice on customs procedures.
