Russia TIR reprieve

[ February 27, 2015   //   ]

The Russian Customs Federation has told the Russian TIR guaranteeing association, ASMAP, that it will extend its agreement until 30 June. It follows positive official statements by the Russian authorities that they will continue to operate the TIR system on their territory. However, the International Road Transport Union warns that, given the lack of information, it cannot rule out problems at border points.
President Putin has though issued a list of instructions to ensure that TIR continues to operate, described by IRU secretary general, Umberto de Prettoas “a very positive development, and additional proof of the increasing importance of the TIR Convention.”
