DFDS ships go green

Six DFDS freight vessels are to be refitted to receive onshore power in the ports of Immingham, Gothenburg and Ghent. It will help reduce emissions and noise from the ships in the terminal area. DFDS said it had received “substantial support” from the European Commission as well as from Volvo Group Belgium, Port of Ghent and the Port of Gothenburg. DFDS Seaways and LD Lines are to rename the chartered Brittany Ferries ferry Barfluer the Deal Seaways when she becomes the second ship on their joint Dover-Calais service on 27 April. She will bring the total number of daily sailings to ten each way.   [+]
