Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways says it is close to reaching agreement on a deal to buy a stake in troubled Italian flag carrier Alitalia. The process has entered the final phase of a due diligence process and both companies are now working on a common strategy. The size of Etihad's stake has not been disclosed, but some commentators say it could be as much as 40%.
